Cotey Gallagher was born and raised in picturesque Vermont. She attended Lesley University College of Art and Design (formerly the Art Institute of Boston) and received her BFA in illustration. Her main focus is in editorial and caricature illustration, but has always had a passion for children’s books... and humor. Cotey has self published 3 children's picture books and has had her illustrations in several other books and magazines. Cotey's interest in art is not just two-dimensional. She has always had a love for crafting and textiles, and in November of 2018, she began working for The Oxford Rug Hooking School. There she learned the history and craft of punch needle rug hooking. In June of 2019, Cotey took the Oxford Punch Needle Rug Hooking Teacher’s Certification Program to hone her skills and to teach others this forgiving art. She resides in Salisbury, Vermont with her husband, son and cat.
